Fringe lightweight contenders Tony Luis and Adrian Estrella will square off in a crossroads bout tonight with a regional title belt and a possible world ranking on the line.

The 10-round bout will take place at the Civic Center in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada.

Luis (27-3, 10 knockouts) will be fighting again in his hometown of Cornwall. Five of his last six bouts have taken place at the same venue.

In his last bout on Feb. 23, Luis stopped former fringe contender Juan Jose Martinez of Mexico City in round eight. The 31-year-old Luis, who is promoted by Denis Benoit, has stopped three of his last five opponents.

Luis has won his last eight bouts since losing to Derry Mathews in April of 2015.

Estrella (29-3, 24 KOs), who resides in Monterrey, Mexico, defeated Oscar Duarte by split-decision in his last bout on Feb. 15 in Indio, California. The victory snapped back-to-back defeats Estrella suffered at the hands of Subriel Matias and Alexander Duran in 2018.

In the co-feature, unbeaten lightweight prospect Will Madera will face Mexico’s Christian Uruzquieta in a 10-round bout.

Madera (14-0-2, 7 KOs) knocked out gatekeeper Daulis Prescott in the opening round of his last bout on Mar. 30. The Albany, New York resident fought on a ’ShoBox’ telecast in his previous fight on Feb. 1, defeating Thomas Mattice by unanimous decision.

Uruzquieta (18-4-1, 6 KOs), who resides in the Mexico City area, was able to grind out a split-decision victory over prospect Roy Moylette in Ireland on Dec. 7. Uruzquieta has won four of his last bouts, with the only defeat coming at the hands of Mathieu Germain on June 23.

Junior welterweight prospect Mohamed Soumaoro (7-0, 4 KOs), who is originally from the African nation of Guinea and now resides in Lasalle, Quebec, Canada, will take on Mexico City’s Daniel Sanchez (4-4-1, 2 KOs) in a six-round bout.

Lightweight Jovanni Straffon (19-3-1, 13 KOs) will square off against Edgar Ramirez (17-14-1, 14 KOs) in an all-Mexico clash that is scheduled for six rounds.

Two more bouts will round out the Liveco Boxing card.
