Light heavyweight prospect Tommy Fury revealed that he's a step closer to returning to the ring.

Fury (7-0, 4 KOs) scheduled to see action last month, in a Showtime pay-per-view showdown with social media star Jake Paul (5-0, 4 KOs).

The younger brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury was forced to withdraw, after suffering a broken rib in training camp and also fighting off a chest infection.

Paul would instead move forward with a rematch against late replacement Tyron Woodley, who was brutally knocked out in the sixth round.

Fury, 22-years-old, is hoping to fight again sooner than later.

"So I've got one more scan to go, one more MRI to do with the rib to see where that's at and to see where how much it's healed and how much we've got left. And then after that I can jump straight back into the ring because I've already been keeping the weight down, raring to go," Fury said.

"So as soon as I can get the all clear for the rib and can go back sparring again and all that other stuff I'll be straight back in the ring. Because I've got some seriously itchy knuckles."

More than anything, Fury wants to reschedule the contest with Paul.

But that may not happen, because Paul is upset with Fury's withdrawal from their contest.

In the last few weeks, Paul has been discussing the possibility of facing former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

"He wants the payday. But I said it before, I don't wanna take the fight with him, he doesn't deserve it. I'd rather fight Tyson Fury. I'll fight his brother or his dad before I'll fight Tommy," Paul told Volume Sports.
