One of Australia’s most exciting fighting exports, former IBO world champion ‘Wild’ Will Tomlinson returns to the ring in the US on the 12th March 2015 after dismantling former world title challenger Miguel Zamudio over eight devastating rounds in December.

Wild Will’s next challenge is against the aggressive Mexican, Francisco Vargas. Vargas is unbeaten in his professional career with a record of 21 Wins (15 by KO) and 1 Draw and is the number one ranked contender for the WBO and WBC super featherweight world titles.

A victory over Vargas will put Tomlinson in the driving seat to contend for a world title in 2015.

“Without a doubt this is the most important fight of my career. Vargas is a very aggressive fighter with a solid work rate and a good kit of punches.”

“I feel he is very similar to me as a fighter, I'm just going to be that little bit better on the night; smarter, faster and harder.”

Tomlinson rose to the occasion in December and capitalised on the opportunity to dominate the contest against Zamudio establishing his status as a fierce contender within the division.

“I was happy with how I fought on the night and to get the win via an 8 round knockout. However I am always a harsh critic of myself and think there is a lot of room for improvement which is what I have been working on in the gym. The best is yet to come.”

Since moving to the US and setting up training camp in L.A. Tomlinson has improved as a fighter under the tutelage of his boxing coach Nico Robledo.

“we are working on perfecting the basics; tight defence, head movement and using my jab and footwork. I have also been working with Gabe Rangle my strength and conditioning coach who is helping me develop speed, power and agility”

Tomlinson is physically and mentally tough, has a work ethic like Jeff Fenech, throws punches like Kostya Tzsyu and is on course to be a two time world champion and Australian sporting legend.

Wild Will Tomlinson vs Francisco Vargas will headline HBO Latino Boxing at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday March 12th.

The broadcast will be shown on delay in Australia on Fox Sports channel 501 this Friday March 13th at 21:30 EDT.

Will Tomlinson’s current record stands at an impressive 23 wins (13 by KO), 1 loss, 1 TD.
