London - Jeamie Tshikeva (otherwise known as Jeamie TKV) got his career back on track with an entertaining victory over London based Ukrainian, Kostiantyn Dovbyshchenko.

The six rounder was something of a make or break fight for 30 year old TKV who was stopped by Igor Macedo last September and could ill afford another defeat. There is little point in padding TKV’s record with a knockover job and he was given a decent test on his return. Dovbyshchenko has operated at a higher level than the Londoner, handing Matty Harris his first defeat last July and taking Moses Itauma and Tom Schwarz the distance.

TKV took the centre of the ring and popped out his jab. For his part, Dovbyshchenko moved around and looked to land his straight right hand to the body, something he found relatively easy to do. TKV began to work the body himself when the two came close.

Dovbyshchenko’s movement slowed in the second and TKV enjoyed more success when he could load up on a more stationary target. Both fighters were still targeting the body but TKV seemed to have snatched the initiative and he landed one particularly solid left hook to the ribcage.

The Ukrainian knows his way around the ring and  looked to take back that initiative in the third. Pushing TKV back and landing a right hand over the top, the Londoner responded and looked to get back on the front foot. The two traded punches over the last minute of the round, both enjoying success, TKV with straight one-two’s and Dovbyshchenko with his left hook.

TKV found his rhythm in the fourth, moving nicely and firing in his jab with a little more venom. Everything began to flow. His right uppercut started to land inside and he was able to hit Dovbyshchenko with straight right hands.

The determined Dovbyshchenko tried to wrestle back control in the fifth but although he once again forced TKV to the ropes, he was unable to find much success and TKV countered him with some nice short combinations. TKV had collected a warning in the third round for punching below the belt and lost a point when another shot strayed low.

Dovbyshchenko (10-15-1, 7 KO’s) is a good test at this level and made TKV fight until the final bell. TKV’s quality began to tell though and he landed the cleaner, better quality punches. He got Dovbyshchenko’s attention with a left hook and at one point, seemed to sting his with a series of right hands.

It was a good workout for TKV (6-1, 3 KO’s) and he deserved the six round decision he was awarded. The score was 58-55.
