Unbeaten featherweight Tiara Brown won by knockout Saturday afternoon, forcing Paulina Cardona to remain on her stool at the Discoteca Tequila in Melgar, Colombia.

Brown improves to 12-0, 8 knockouts.

The 34-year-old Brown worked behind a consistent jab from the opening bell, mixing her attack against the aggressive Cardona. Brown began breaking Cardona down during the second round as she sat down on her punches, focusing her attack on the body. The game Cardona was not able to keep Brown off of her as she was backed against the ropes.

As the bell sounded to begin the third round, Cardona remained on her stool. Referee Daniel Segura waved the fight off, declaring Brown the winner.

Saturday marked Brown’s return to the ring since stopping Jenifer Ancelmo, who entered the fight unbeaten, on October 29. She has now stopped six of her last eight opponents.

Brown, who was a USA Boxing National Champion in 2012, 2014, and 2015, is penciled to face Calista Salgado at Packard Music Hall in Warren, Ohio on August 27. She resides in Fort Myers, Florida, where she also serves as a police officer.

Cardona, who resides in Barranquilla, Colombia, drops to 25-27-7, 11 KOs. She is winless in her last five bouts.

Light heavyweight Deneb Diaz of Bogota, Colombia improved to 18-2, 12 KOs by stopping Winston Marquez (0-1-1) in the fourth and final round.

Diaz has won his last two bouts since losing by knockout to unbeaten super middleweight William Scull, a Cuba-born fighter who now resides in Germany, on November 26.

In a junior middleweight bout with odd scoring, Ruben Angulo (6-1-1, 4 KOs) of Buenaventura, Colombia and Eber Tovar fought to a split-decision draw. Each fighter won 100-90 on a judge’s scorecard, while the third judge scored the bout 95-95.

Tovar, who resides in Cali, Colombia, goes to 5-0-3, 2 KOs.
