Dina Thorslund has the chance to become a two-weight world champion this week – and she has already set her sights on a potential unification showdown with WBA bantamweight champion Shannon Courtenay.

Reigning WBO super-bantamweight champion Thorslund (15-0, 6 KOs) drops down in weight to face Jasseth Noriega (27-4-2, 5 KOs) for the vacant WBO bantamweight title at the Struer Arena in Denmark on Friday, with the undefeated star looking to win another world title.

Thorslund hopes a victory there can lead to some big unification fights at 118lbs, and she has had plenty to say about a future clash against WBA champion Courtenay.

Thorslund said: “It will be a big moment for me if I can become a two-weight world champion, not only for me but for all of the boxing fans in Denmark who always give me a great support.

“If I win here, Courtenay has the WBA belt and that’s the one I want after this. We have been pushing for this fight for a long time but she seems to not want it. It would be a big fight but I will take her out easy.

“I’m not impressed by Courtenay at all. She knows I will beat her very easy and that’s why they don’t want it. I hope MTK Global and Matchroom can make it happen.

“First things first I have Noriega and I’m really excited for this fight. It has been a tough camp and I’ve been in Italy sparring some of the Olympic boxers, so it has been great preparation.

“I am big at super bantamweight so of course I think I will l be very strong at bantamweight too, but Noriega is also very strong so I’m expecting fireworks

“She is a typical Mexican, very strong and aggressive, so I think she will push forward with a high work rate. I will have to move around her and box smart, but if that doesn’t work I will go toe to toe.”
