It turns out, Ryan Garcia doesn’t hold all of the cards at 140 pounds. Although he came up short against Gervonta Davis in 2023, the 25-year-old believes he became a pay-per-view star overnight. According to reports, Garcia played a huge role in their PPV generating over one million buys.

He might be beltless, but Garcia has a big name and a devoted following. Thanks to those factors, Garcia attempted to move his weight around. After getting back in the win column by running through Oscar Duarte, Garcia knocked on the door of Devin Haney. However, he quickly changed his mind just a few days into negotiations.

Essentially, Haney was left at the altar in favor of Rolando “Rolly” Romero. For whatever reason, Garcia viewed it as a more attractive fight. But while it seemed as though their conclaves were going along just fine, Rolando pulled a Garcia, changing his mind and inking a contract that will see him take on Isaac Cruz on March 30th.

Now, Garcia is heading back to the drawing board. Who will he end up fighting? Not even Garcia knows but he’s taking a look around the landscape. If he isn’t able to find anyone noteworthy, Tevin Farmer recently revealed he’s ready, willing, and able to jump in the ring and give Garcia the fight of his life.

He’s been a pro for over a decade and has never ventured off to the super lightweight division. Still, the former 130-pound champ could use a big fight of his own. He’s tired of the mundane fights he’s been forced to take and wants a shot in the big leagues.

As Farmer sees it, with Garcia unable to land a marquee fight, he somewhat needs him.

“I been seeing Ryan Garcia lately looking for opponents and they haven't been coming through,” Farmer told FightHype.com during a recent virtual interview. “Rolly fell through, he already fought Gervonta. Teofimo, Devin Haney, none of them are available. I’ll move up two weight classes. I want that work.”
