The silver super bantamweight world champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Victor Terrazas (36-2-1, 21KOs), says the moment has come to make the leap to become the absolute champion of the division, but he is aware that it will not be an easy task - because he has to overcome Cristian Mijares (47-6-2, 22KOs).

The Mexican boxers will battle for the vacant WBC title on April 20th in Mexico City. The belt was vacated by Abner Mares.

"Cristian Mijares has done a lot, he was world champion - but now it's my turn and I will prove it in the ring. I am the silver championr and I will be the absolute world champion soon," he said.

"Now I have to face Mijares and I have to be at my best. I feel very good, very happy because [this opportunity] recognizes my efforts and my work. I am on the verge of my main goal."

If Terrazas gets past Mijares, he hopes to get a crack at Nonito Donaire in the near future.

"I know that Nonito Donaire is a strong and fast fighter but I hope that I be given the opportunity and I assure you it would be a great fight," Terrazas said.
