Last month, Teofimo Lopez became the top man in the lightweight division, when he pulled off a twelve round unanimous decision victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko to unify the WBO, WBA, WBC Franchise, IBF world titles at 135-pounds.

Their contest took place with a closed doors setting from the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas.

In the last two months, the lightweight division has been on fire.

This past Saturday night, Lopez was an interested observer as Devin Haney retained his WBC world title with a twelve round decision over Yuriorkis Gamboa.

And two weeks ago, Gervonta Davis brutally knocked out Leo Santa Cruz in is six rounds to retain the WBA "regular" lightweight title.

Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell will collide next month for the WBC's vacant interim-lightweight title.

“135, you have the likes of these guys. And, I’m the king of it all, ” said Lopez to the Morning Kombat podcast. "What can they bring to the table? Really, what can they bring to the table for me to make [a fight between us]. I bring a lot to the table, you know?

“I want to make fights happen. I want to make big fights happen. It’s all about who is going to be that top dog to make those fights happen? Such a big fight that people are just drooling to see. We have a lot of potential fights.”

Haney had promised to demolish Gamboa, but that didn't exactly happen - as Gamboa never appeared to be in serious trouble at any point in the fight, but he lost just about every round in the contest.

Lopez was unimpressed with Haney's performance.

“However, Devin Haney, poor performance from him. When people have high expectations, you have to [make a statement]. I can’t speak for the other guys in the division, but I want big fights. We’re hoping for March or April," Lopez said.
