Last month, former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather took to social media to tease potential fights with UFC superstars Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Mayweather has already fought McGregor in a boxing match, back in August of 2017. McGregor was broken down and stopped in ten rounds at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The bout between Mayweather and McGregor was the second most financially successful pay-per-view event in combat sports history.

McGregor has been calling for a rematch with Mayweather.

On the other side, Khabib is expected to defend his lightweight championship opposite Tony Ferguson at UFC 249 this April in Brooklyn, New York.

Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap, has explained that they are very interested in a fight with Mayweather - but they are proposing some interesting rules for the fight. They would request a twelve round bout, where eleven of the rounds were under the rules of boxing and one round would have to be fought under the rules of mixed martial arts.

Their request presents a question or two.... What would happen if Khabib is stopped inside of the first eleven rounds?

“Mayweather has statistics on fights of 50 wins and zero losses, he is the greatest in boxing and he wants to fight with the same champion who did not lose a single fight, with Khabib,” Abdulmanap told Tass. “Everything is fine, but now we have Tony Ferguson on the line.

“We said a long time ago: let us finish with Tony, after that we will work with [the team of world champion Vasily] Lomachenko for six months, then there will be a boxing fight. We offer any day anywhere, with only one condition: eleven rounds in boxing and one in mixed martial arts.

“We will stand eleven rounds against the best boxer, so why not go one round according to the rules of MMA with us? But all things will happen after Tony.”
