Chepo Reynoso, manager of WBC 154-pound champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, arrived in Mexico City. He was mobbed with questions pertaining to a super-fight with WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Their respective promoters, Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions, are discussing the potential fight, but Reynoso still doubts the possibility of the fight actually happening, because Chavez will have a very hard time getting down in weight.

"I see there is willingness from both companies, Golden Boy Promotions, and Bob Arum of Top Rank, to reach an agreement. Of course it can be done, but what surprises me is Arum saying the fight is close to a deal for March in Las Vegas. To reach an agreement on a fight like this, you have to solve a lot of problems. One of them is the weight. Saul is a junior middleweight, but Julio is at a higher division, at middleweight, and I think sometimes he weighs more. We would have to present our terms, and there would be a problem for Julio to come down to an agreed upon weight," Reynoso said.

Chepo indicates that plans are underway for Canelo to defend his title in December against a ranked opponent. They have someone in mind, but Chepo admits the options are rather limited.

"We have located an opponent, more or less, but we'll say more later on. We'll put an offer on the table, but its Canelo who has the last word. Miguel Angel Cotto and Antonio Margarito are fighting each other. Victor Ortiz is out and coming off a loss. But in time he will be facing one of names mentioned," Reynoso said.
