Emanuel Taylor, who has been chosen as the comeback opponent for Lucas Matthysse this weekend at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, says after competitive affairs with the likes of Antonio Orozco and Adrien Broner, that he's ready to get over the hump.

The fight will be part of the HBO Pay-Per-View undercard to the all-Mexican grudge match between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Junio Cesar Chavez Jr.

"I've been well-focused on this fight, me and my trainer have been going over the game plan over and over and over. So it's been jotted in my head about what I need to do on May 6th,'' said the 26-year old from Maryland, who has a record of 20-4(14 KO's).

He believes his past experienced have made him a better fighter.

"Absolutely,'' he stated on Wednesday afternoon. "I've been at this point before and made me the great fighter I am right now."

The fight will be Matthysse's debut in the welterweight division - and it will also be the boxer's debut with new trainer Joel Diaz.

Taylor is a solid pro, some are surprised that Matthysse and his brain trust decided to return against a foe of caliber. This fight will really gauge just how much 'the Machine' has left in the tank. Taylor believes his job is to drive Matthysse into retirement.

"Absolutely, absolutely, definitely make him feel what he felt in his last fight with his eye being injured, make him feel frustrated in the fight,"said Taylor, referring to Matthysse's loss to Viktor Postol back in October of 2015 - where Matthysse went down and decided to take the full count after suffering an eye injury.

"He's going to be desperate so take him back in time to how he lost. Take him back to his ways - he's going to quit."
