Although it was made public by Sven Fornling and his management on September 9, SES finally announced the fight between IBO light heavyweight titleholder Sven Fornling (15-1) and Dominic Boesel (29-1) on November 16 in Halle an der Saale. The show is billed as "Das WM-PROJECT" but there are two titles at stake and there is a "small" problem that comes along with that.

The EBU have approved of a voluntary defence by Boesel against Fornling but have made it very clear (as per their rules) that in order for that to happen only one title will be at stake and that is the EBU. For this to happen Fornling will have to relinquish the IBO title.

Another alternative is of course that Boesel let go of the EBU strap but as of now no decision has been made.

Both men are highly ranked by the big four world title organisations with Boesel # 5 WBC, # 3 WBA, # 3 IBF and # 3 WBO while Fornling is # 15 WBC, # 3 WBA, # 5 WBO and not ranked by the IBF so every move in and out of the ropes is very important.

The EBU can of course make an exception to their rules but it´s not likely this will happen as a decision like that will open the doors for others to do the same with other "world" titles.

Official challenger for the EBU title is Igor Mikhalkin, stablemate with Fornling in the EC Boxing stable.

...

Heavyweight Erkan Teper, who just the other day signed with EC Boxing, relinquished his position as co-challenger for the vacant EU title. Now Petar Milas, again and again, waits for a new co-challenger to be appointed. As for Teper good paydays on the road might be next.
