BoxingScene.com has been advised that promoter Yvon Michel of GYM has reserved April 4th at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec - for next title defense of WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (25-1, 21KOs).

The potential opponent being mentioned by Michel is Polish contender Andrzej Fonfara (26-3, 15KOs).

They previously fought in May, which was Stevenson's network debut on Showtime. Stevenson started fast, hurting and dropping Fonfara in what many thought was going to be an early night. But, Fonfara was able to weather the storm and started to rally down the stretch. Stevenson, who was swinging for the fences as he looked for a homerun punch in the first six rounds, was visibly exhausted in the second half of the fight, which allowed Fonfara to return the favor by hurting him and scoring a knockdown of his own. Stevenson had more than enough rounds in the bank to win a clear decision with scores of 115-110, 115-110 and 116-109.

Following that match, Fonfara signed with manager/adviser Al Haymon, who also works with Stevenson. Fonfara returned last month, winning a ten round decision over Doudou Ngumbu, while Stevenson scored a crushing knockout in five rounds last Friday over Dmitry Sukhotsky.

Stevenson's fight in April will be his final voluntary defense. The World Boxing Council issued an order last week for Stevenson to face the winner of Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal, which takes place on March 17th for the IBF/WBO/WBA world titles.
