For over half a decade, Steven “So Cold” Nelson has done his best to get his name out there. Yet, due to a lack of big-time opportunities and a few protracted stints on the sidelines, Nelson isn’t exactly where he feels he needs to be.

Unlike most fighters with less than 10 years of experience under their belts, time isn’t on the super middleweight contenders' side. Although the dust on his birth certificate is slowly building, Nelson is ready to make a huge push.

His name, by and large, doesn’t ring a ton of bells at 168 pounds. With that said, Nelson is prepared to take things up a notch.

“I’m 35,” revealed Nelson to Tha Boxing Voice. “I feel healthy but there’s so much in life that I wanna do. It’s definitely time for me to blow up and show who Steven So Cold Nelson is.”

In three years, Nelson has sauntered through an arena on just two occasions. Still, while sporadic appearances haven't allowed him to build any momentum, he has looked incredibly sharp. When last seen, the Omaha, Nebraska, native was busy putting on a show and increasing his win streak to 19. The only problem with that statement is, his opponent, Rowdy Legend Montgomery, isn’t well-known and has failed to step up to the plate when his level of opposition increased.

His resume might be considered tenuous, but Nelson believes that he’s skilled enough to match up with the best of them. Currently, the super middleweight waters are filled to the brim with bloodthirsty sharks. David Benavidez, Caleb Plant, and Demetrius Andrade are names that Nelson wouldn’t mind stepping into the ring with. But of course, Canelo Alvarez holds all of the super middleweight marbles.

While he may have a long line of contenders chomping at the bit to face him, Nelson is of the belief that he could get a shot at the Mexican star or whoever holds one of the super middleweight titles in the near future.

“I think by the end of 2024, it should be a title shot.”
