AMATEUR boxing has been good to Steve Spark but now it's time to chase his dreams in the world professional ranks.

Spark is set to officially end his amateur career in 10 weeks time when he makes his professional debut on the October 31 "Smithy Brings The Big Fights 8" card in his home-town of Toowoomba.

It is a long-planned move for the talented teenager who turns 18 just weeks before his fight against a yet-to-be-named opponent.

Spark had 38 amateur bouts highlighted by his Queensland and Australian 57kg title wins.

He has also fought successfully in England.

Spark has been a member of Smithy's Gym for three years and is now counting down the days until he can follow his Toowoomba idols including Michael Katsidis, Braydon Smith, Jack Asis and Kris George into the ring.

"I'm happy with what I achieved as an amateur," Spark said this week.

"I beat every Australian champion in three divisions from 54 to 60kg.

"But I think I will be better suited to professional boxing.

"I love to fight and I think my style will help me make the switch successfully.

"I'll be the youngest pro in the gym, and I have a lot to prove to myself.

"I've been here for three years and I can't thank my great idols like Jack, Mick, Brayd and Kris enough for what they've done to help me.

"Seeing them do so well has really inspired me.

"I've also got my mum and dad to thank for helping me get this far and I think I have the best manager in the world in Brendon (Smith).

"The support of Toowoomba people is also fantastic.

"My dream is to win a major world title. I'm willing to make a lot of sacrifices to get to the top and I'm going to make a big statement on October 31."
