Successful defense at Rumble at Rama V will lead to historic unification fight in November.

MNJIKANING (RAMA), ON – Orion Sports Management and Casino Rama are excited to present Rumble at Rama V on Friday, August 29th, where undefeated champion Steve “The Canadian Kid” Molitor defends his I.B.F. World Junior Featherweight Title for the fifth time.

Reigning Champion Molitor (27-0, 10 KOs) will put his title on the line against Argentina’s undefeated Ceferino Dario Labarda (18-0, 7 KOs).  A Molitor win sets the stage for a title unification fight between the I.B.F. and W.B.A. champions at Casino Rama on November 21st.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into the Casino Rama ring,” said Molitor.  “This fight is an important one and a crucial step towards my goal of winning a unification fight later this year.”  The planned unification match between Molitor and the W.B.A.’s Celestino Caballero (29-2, 20 KOs) would be the most significant of each fighter’s career and the first of its kind in Canada.

Molitor claimed the I.B.F. Junior Featherweight Title in 2006 from the previously unbeaten Michael Hunter in Hartlepool, England. Since then he has defended the title in four Rumble at Rama match ups, most recently against Mexico’s fierce Fernando Beltran Jr. in a grueling 12-round match that resulted in a decisive win by unanimous decision.

In addition to the main event, Rumble at Rama V will profile a strong undercard that includes a soon to be announced special attraction.  In addition, Heavyweight Greg “The Steel Pole” Kielsa will take on the formidable Arthur “The Bear” Cook, and Phil “The Sudbury Sensation” Boudreault returns to Casino Rama with his legion of fans to tackle North Dakota’s fierce “Running Bear”.

“Rumble at Rama V will feature our strongest undercard yet,” said Allan Tremblay, President of Orion Sports Management.  “Ontario has become the proving ground for an impressive array of fighters, and we will be profiling some fierce match-ups this August.”
