Montreal Casino, Montreal - In a junior welterweight clash, Steve Claggett (37-7-2, 25 KOs) was too busy with a non-stop attack that controlled and punished Miguel Madueno (30-2, 28 KOs) for a dominant ten round unanimous decision.

The scores were 99-91, 99-91 and 98-92.

Madueno was riding a three fight win streak since losing a twelve round decision to former champion Jezzrel Corrales in March of 2022.

Claggett had won his last seven, after suffering a split decision loss to Mathieu Germain in May 2021.

When the fight began both came out with power jabs and looking to land big punches. Madueno was throwing a lot of big shots, but Claggett was pressing forward and refused to take a step back. Both fighters were connecting with heavy punches on the inside.

They went right back to war in the second. Claggett was throwing at a very high volume and refused to back away from Madueno as they traded in close. Claggett was catching Madueno more often as the action continued in the third.

Madueno was landing in the fourth and fifth, but he was being overwhelmed at times by the non-stop punching from Claggett. More and more trading in the sixth and seventh, with Claggett having the clear edge with the volume and number of punches connecting.

In the eight, Madueno seemed to really slow down and appeared to be wearing down from all of the punches coming from Claggett. More of the same in the ninth and tenth, as Claggett's workrate was too much for Madueno to deal with.

Also on the card, Steven Butler (33-4-1, 27 KOs) bounced back from defeat with a ninth round knockout of Ivan Alvarez.

Back in May, Butler was wiped out in two rounds by WBO middleweight champion Janibek Alimkhanuly.
