Boston - Murphy’s Boxing is proud to announce that our very own, Stephen “The Rock” Ormond (21-2 11KOs) #9 ranked IBF Lightweight will battle undefeated Alejandro Luna (20-0 15KOs) #10 ranked IBF Lightweight on Friday August 5th, as the co main event on ESPN 2, live from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

The 10 round lightweight fight will be an eliminator bout, with the winner receiving the #2 lightweight world ranking and positioning themselves to challenge for the IBF Lightweight Championship of the world.

Ormond is coming off 4 straight victories since losing a highly disputed 10th round disqualification loss in February 2015 against current WBO world lightweight champion Terry Flanagan.

Since then Ormond has been unsuccessful in luring Flanagan back in the ring. In his last outing coming on March 19th at the House of Blues in Boston, Ormond captured the IBF Intercontinental Lightweight Championship with a 10 round unanimous decision over the tough Marcos Jimenez (21-6 14KOs).

Ormond dominated the fight from start to finish as he continuously landed 3 and 4 punch combinations and stalked the over matched Jimenez. All 3 judges scored the fight a 100-90 shutout for Ormond.

Ormond knows he must get through the undefeated Luna in order to secure a championship fight.

“Alejandro Luna is a tough undefeated fighter, but I know come August 5th I will not be denied”, said Stephen Ormond. “This is the biggest fight of my career and one that will secure me a title shot, I am leaving with that #2 ranking”, concluded Ormond.
