Montreal – InterBox is proud to announce that it has reached an agreement with Alfredo Marchio, promoter of dangerous punching and former World title contender Fulgencio Zuniga (24-5-1, 21 KO) of Colombia, to have Zuniga box against Repentigny, Quebec’s own Renan St-Juste (22-2-1, 15 KO) on the semi-final spot of the InterBox March 19th 2011 Boxing Gala that will take at the Montreal Bell Centre.  A significant victory by current NABO Champion Renan St-Juste would propel him up towards a major fight before the end of 2011.  The Main Event of this Gala will feature IBF Super Middleweight champion Lucian Bute (27-0-0, 22 KO) making his Showtime Championship Boxing debut against southpaw Brian Magee (34-3-1, 24 KO) of Lisburn City, Northern Ireland.  Bute will be looking for his 7th consecutive title defense.

21 of Zuniga’s 24 victories have come by way of Knockout.  Zuniga has been in the ring with some of the best boxers and prospects in the World.  Internationally renowned, Zuniga has participated in 4 World title bouts (vs Daniel Santos, Dennis Inkin, Lucian Bute and Tavoris Cloud) in 3 different weight classes.  His last fight was December 17th 2010 against IBF 175 lb champion Tavoris Cloud.  Zuniga impressed those who did not believe he could compete against the Champion for his first career fight at Light Heavyweight, but proved the skeptics wrong by making Cloud work for his points, resisting his power (18 KO’s in 22 fights) and offering a very good 12-round fight to boxing fans in attendance and across the world.

« We looked everywhere for an Internationally recognized boxer that would give a good show to our fans and offer a great test to Renan.  Fulgencio Zuniga is the perfect candidate on both fronts and a victory from Renan will solidify his place in the 168 lb division and open the door for him to a major fight in the near future” states Groupe Sportscene Inc. President Mr. Jean Bedard.

Renan St-Juste is very happy with the way things turned out and is extremely eager to step inside the Bell Centre ring on March 19th.  “I was hungry and motivated to fight Edison Miranda.  I still feel the same feelings.  Now it will be Zuniga who feels my power and witnesses my intelligence in the ring.  I hope he realizes it is him who will pay for Miranda’s backing out.  I am putting in a ton of effort in training and it will all come out the night of the fight.  I will use Zuniga’s good name to make a name for myself in the international boxing world”.

Undercard soon complete

InterBox and Top Rank are in discussions to add Vanes Martirosyan (28-0-0, 17 KO) to the March 19th card.  Martirosyan is trained by Freddie Roach. Another boxer who could be added is Canadian amateur standout Colin Fish, who would be making his pro debut.  InterBox plans to organize a total of 8 bouts.
