FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY - Just months removed from his title-winning effort over Mike Ruiz, NY State Welterweight Champion Daniel Sostre will return to the ring on Friday, May 8 when he defends his crown against Plainview, NY contender Tommy Rainone, it was announced today by Ring Promotions President Bob Duffy.  The eight-round title contest will headline a seven-bout fight card from the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant in Franklin Square, NY.

Tickets, priced at $150 (limited tables-seven course dinner), $100 (Reserved Ringside) and $50 (General Admission), can be purchased by calling Plattduetsche Park Restaurant at 516-354-3131 or by visiting www.ringpromotions.com.  Plattduetsche Park Restaurant is conveniently located at 1132 Hempstead Turnpike, just ½ mile east of Belmont Racetrack.

“This is as exciting as boxing gets,” says Duffy. “Some of the best young fighters in the NY area will be trading leather on Friday, May 8.  This will be a guaranteed sellout, so buy your tickets as soon as possible.”

Sostre (8-3, 3 KO’s), a Vega Baja, Puerto Rico native who now resides in Highland, NY, has won his last six bouts.  The 24-year-old seized the vacant NYS Welterweight Championship in his last bout by outworking Mike Ruiz to win a majority decision by the scores of 77-75 (twice) and 76-76.

Rainone (12-2, 4 KO’s) won his first 11 bouts as a professional.  The 29-year-old Plainview, Long Island native stopped Santos Galli (TKO 7) in his last bout to earn a shot at the New York State welterweight crown.

Also featured on this talent-laden fight card will be the following:

$ Irish jr. middleweight James Moore (16-2, 10 KO’s), who battled world ranked contender Yuri Foreman for the NABF jr. middleweight title in his last bout.  Moore is looking to stay busy by fighting three times in the next five months.

$ Dominican heavyweight Nagy Aguilera (11-1, 7 KO’s), a Newburgh, NY resident by way of the Dominican Republic, who won his first 10 bouts as a pro.  In his last bout on February 28, 2009, Aguilera stopped David Robinson (KO 2).  Aguilera is a former NY Golden Gloves Champion.

$ Undefeated Brooklyn heavyweight Will Rosinsky (6-0 6 KO’s), who has stopped all six of his opponents, five in the first round.  Rosinsky is a former NY Golden Gloves Champion and a former National Amateur Champion

$ Mike Ruiz (8-3, 5 KO’s), a Long Island rising star who had won his last eight bouts before losing a close majority decision to Daniel Sostre in his last bout (L 8).  Ruiz would like another opportunity to contend for the state title, so he wants to challenge the winner of Sostre-Rainone.

The May 8 fight card will be Ring Promotions fourth at the Plattdeutsche Park Restaurant.  In their last event on January 23, 2009, Ring Promotions sold out the Huntington Hotel in Long Island, NY.
