Jason Sosa picked up his 13th straight win in grand style, knocking out Jerry Belmontes in the opening round of their Unimas-televised clash from Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

The Camden, New Jersey native has split his time between the Northeastern region of the United States and Puerto Rico over the course of the past year. Saturday's bout was his third on La Isla del Encanto ("The Enchanted Island") in the span of his past five fights dating back to last October.

Of the three fights, none have yet to last beyond the second round. Belmontes (19-8, 5KOs) couldn't even make it that far, running into trouble early before getting clipped in the final 30 seconds of round one.

A left hook by Sosa left his shopworn foe frozen, with a clean-up right hand putting him down and out. The sequence brought an immediate halt to the contest, ending at 2:38 of round one.

Sosa improves to 17-1-3 (13KOs) with the win. The 27-year old has emerged as a super featherweight prospect on the rise after having limped out to a 4-1-3 career start through his first eight fights.

In a matchup that honestly had no business making the televised portion of the card, Jean Carlos Rivera's return following a 14-month hiatus lasted all of 157 seconds.

It's all he needed to take out Jose Roman. Rivera (3-0, 2KOs) scored two knockdowns, including a left hook to the body to put the winless Roman (0-3) down for the count at 2:37 of round one.

Rivera is based out of Orlando, Florida, but all three career fights have taken place on his island of birth in Puerto Rico.

Two more 1st round knockouts made it a clean sweep for the broadcast.

Unbeaten Christopher Diaz (12-0, 7KOs) - a sharp looking 20-year young prospect from Barranquitas, P.R. - barely broke a sweat in getting rid of Alcides Santiago. A knockdown midway through the round was followed by a barrage to force the referee to step in and shut down the mismatch - though on paper the most competitive fight on the night, or at least right behind Sosa vs. Belmontes.

Jovanie Santiago scored his third win of 2015, having only fought six rounds combined between them. His latest early victim was overmatched Leroy Padilla (1-10), who was felled by a body shot to end the bout towards the end of round one. Santiago (6-0-1, 4KOs) has now won four straight, including three consecutive knockouts.
