All Srisaket Sor Rungvisai has to do now is sit back and wait.

The former WBC super flyweight champion recorded an easy technical knockout victory Saturday in his native Thailand to maintain his position as the WBC’s mandatory challenger for the winner of the Juan Francisco Estrada-Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez rematch Saturday night in Dallas. Sor Rungvisai stopped Kwanthai Sithmorseng after the third round of a scheduled 10-round encounter DAZN streamed from Workpoint Studio in Bang Phun, Thailand, just outside of Bangkok.

Sor Rungvisai (50-5-1, 43 KOs) picked apart the 38-year-old Sithmorseng (50-8-1, 27 KOs), a faded former WBA light flyweight champion who wasn’t the least bit competitive against the powerful Thai southpaw. Thailand’s Sithmorseng lost by knockout for the fifth time in his past eight fights.

The 34-year-old Sor Rungvisai won a third straight bout since Mexico’s Estrada defeated him in their WBC super flyweight championship rematch in April 2019 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. Sor Rungvisai edged Estrada by majority decision in their first 12-round bout, which took place in February 2018 at The Forum.

Estrada (41-3, 28 KOs) won the WBC belt from Sor Rungvisai that Sor Rungvisai won by upsetting Gonzalez by majority decision in March 2017 at Madison Square Garden. Sor Rungvisai battered Gonzalez and knocked him out in the fourth round of their immediate rematch in September 2017 at StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Sor Rungvisai remains the only opponent to defeat Nicaragua’s Gonzalez (50-2, 41 KOs), a four-division champion and former pound-for-pound king.

Whoever wins the Estrada-Gonzalez rematch at American Airlines Center (DAZN; 8 p.m. ET) will give Sor Rungvisai a much more difficult fight than Sithmorseng provided.

Sor Rungvisai battered a slower, weaker Sithmorseng during the second and third rounds. Sithmorseng took a knee with just under 40 seconds to go in the third round after absorbing an array of power punches from Sor Rungvisai.

The former 108-pound champion got up after catching his breath and managed to make it to the end of that third round. His handlers decided, though, that Sithmorseng had taken more than enough punishment and wouldn’t allow him to start the fourth round.

A relaxed Sor Rungvisai took his time and landed various head and body shots during the first round on Sithmorseng.
