With the prospect of a rematch against Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (46-1, 38 KOs), possibly in September in Los Angeles, California, Thailand's world champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (43-4-1, 39 KOs) interrupted his vacation and returned to the Nakornloung Nothanbury boxing gym in Thailand.

The WBC super flyweight champion starting training on Monday morning to officially start his preparation.

Rungvisai pulled off a major upset in capturing the World Boxing Council (WBC) championship on March 18 in Madison Square Garden of New York, where he won a twelve round decision over undefeated Gonzalez in the co-featured attraction of an HBO Pay-Per-View event. At the time of the fight, Gonzalez was regarded by many experts as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

Not everyone was happy with the outcome of the scorecards and Gonzalez's camp protested to the WBC.

The sanctioning body ordered a second meeting, because they were unhappy with the way the officials had handled the issue of head clashes. There were several head clashes in the fight, and they opened up some serious wounds around the eyes of Gonzalez.

The Thai fighter displayed a total physical recovery in the gym. After his big victory, he became an overnight sensation in Thailand. He was invited to multiple meetings with high profile personalities in his country, received money from sponsors and recognitions from the local governing bodies.

On the other hand, Gonzalez is still resting and plans to take a trip to Japan, where he intends to have a meeting with his promoter, Mr. Akihiko Honda, to go over the details of his next fight.

Gonzalez stated last week that during his upcoming trip to Japan, he will begin his workouts but they won't be very demanding. Once he returns back home to Nicaragua, he then plans to intensify the preparation with his head trainer Wilmer Hernandez.
