Mikaela Mayer will enter her third weight class in as many bouts.

The former unified junior lightweight titlist is confirmed to face Italy's Silvia Bortot in a scheduled ten-round bout above the junior welterweight limit on September 2 at AO Arena in Manchester, England. The matchup was confirmed on Monday by BOXXER as part of a Sky Sports Box Office show headlined by the Liam Smith-Chris Eubank Jr. rematch.

Olympic Gold medalist Lauren Price will also appear in a welterweight bout versus an opponent to be determined, as part of the preliminary undercard livestream preceding the Pay-Per-View portion of the card.

Mayer (18-1, 5KOs) moved up in lightweight in her previous outing, a ten-round decision win over late replacement opponent Lucy Wildheart. The April 15 bout at Copper Box Arena in Hackney Wick was her first since a narrow defeat to Alycia Baumgarder in their lineal, WBC, IBF and WBO junior lightweight unification bout last October 15 in London.

The move to lightweight came with the confirmation that Mayer was done with the 130-pound division. It turned out to be a one-stop shop for the 2016 U.S. Olympian and former titlist, who decided to fight in a weight division more befitting her 5'9" frame.

In addition to fighting in a third weight class, Mayer fights in the U.K. for the third straight time as well. The Los Angeles native fights out of Colorado Springs, Colorado, but has trained in Las Vegas for a fight card slot that was on her radar for the past few weeks.

Bortot (11-2-1, 3KOs) will make her U.K. debut and fights outside of her native Italy for just the third time. The career junior welterweight is coming off a ten-round, split decision defeat to unbeaten Flora Pill this past May 5 in Padua, Italy.

Topping the bill, Smith and Eubank are set to continue their contentious rivalry in the same venue that housed their first meeting,

Liverpool’s Smith (33-3-1, 20KOs) knocked out Brighton’s Eubank (32-3, 23KOs) in the fourth round of their January 21 meeting at AO Arena. The fight carried a rematch clause, which Eubank enforced.

The AO Arena was once again due to play host for the second act originally set for June 17. The bout was pushed back two weeks to July 1 due to a back injury suffered by Smith during training camp. An inability to fully recover from the injury forced the bout to drop off the bill and left the fight in limbo.
