Last week, BoxingScene.com reported that WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn (17-0-1, 11KOs) could potentially defend his title against current British welterweight champion Bradley Skeete (27-1,12KOs) on November 25 in Australia.  It was an opportunity the London native was excited to receive.  Talks between Horn’s co-promoters Ducoand Skeete’s promoter Frank Warren have cooled down tremendously since then.

“My team has been in talks with Jeff Horn’s team.  I agreed on all terms that were put out.  I was under the understanding that I was waiting on the contract to be signed and the fight to be made.

“Over the weekend I think they kind of got cold feet.  I’m hearing now that they are looking elsewhere.  I’m ranked number 3 with the WBO so it won’t be long until I’m mandatory. If he don’t fight me now and he’s still got the belt, I’ll be fighting him sometime soon anyway.  He can run but he can’t hide.”

The fight seems unlikely as further reports claim Horn could now be facing WBO #11 contender Gary Corcoran (17-1, 7KOs) on that same November date.

“You know what I can’t even talk bad about him because he’s a pal of mine and he’s a part of my promotional set up.  If he gets the opportunity then fair play to him.  I just think Jeff Horn’s people are taking the easier option to be honest.  I’m rank number 3.  I’ve done it the hard way.  I’ve worked my way up the rankings.  Fair enough I have not been in there with world ranked and known names.  I could have moved on and nixed that world level a while ago but I was stubborn and wanted to win my British title outright and make them three defenses.

“Before I moved on to the world level I wanted to dominate the British level and prove that I’m the best Britain.  Domestically no one could touch me in Britain.  It’s proven, I’m the outright champion.  You just got to look at the current European champion.  I went up to his hometown in Birmingham and dealt with him comfortably.  I’m passed European level I believe.  The next level for me is world level.

“I was ready to go over to Australia and bring that fight home.  I was more than ready to go over there and deal with Jeff Horn.  I one hundred percent believe I’ll be bringing that title home.
