Sebastian and Gabriela Fundora will share a card for the first time as pros.

The talented siblings will appear in separate bouts on an October 8 show to take place at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. Opponents have yet to be learned for either fighter, though Freddy Fundora—the father and head trainer for Sebastian and Gabriela—confirmed that both will fight on that date, with Sebastian to headline what is believed to be a Showtime telecast.

Sebastian Fundora (19-0-1, 13KOs) fought just once before at Dignity Health Sports Park, earning a fourth-round stoppage of Jorge Cota last May 1. The win helped propel the 6’5 ½” southpaw onto the contender stage, having since earned two more step-up wins.

By far the biggest win of Sebastian’s career to date came in his most recent start. The 24-year-old from Coachella, California traded knockdowns and a lot of leather with top contender Erickson Lubin before earning a stoppage win after nine rounds this past April 9 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The epic battle remains a leading contender for 2022 Fight of the Year, with Fundora also claiming the interim WBC junior middleweight title which earns a place in line for undisputed champion Jermell Charlo.

Gabriela Fundora (8-0, 4KOs)—a 5’9” flyweight—turned pro at this very venue two weeks later, scoring a four-round decision win and then repeating the feat on site just six weeks later. Each of her first two fights took place on the non-televised portion of Showtime events, likely resuming the same role with her placement on the October 8 show though with the possibility of her fight appearing on a YouTube stream.

In her most recent start, Fundora outpointed Lucia Hernandez over eight rounds on July 28 in Indio, mere minutes from the family’s Coachella hometown. The fight took place on a Golden Boy DAZN Fight Night show, with father Freddy and brother Sebastian both working her corner.

The opponent for at least Sebastian is expected to be revealed in the next couple of weeks. Also rumored to take place on the date is an IBF junior bantamweight title fight rematch between Fernando ‘Puma’ Martinez and Philippines’ Jerwin Ancajas. Argentina’s Martinez claimed the title in a twelve-round decision win over Ancajas in a massive upset win, ending what was the longest active title reign by a male boxer to that point this past February 26 in Las Vegas.
