Shawn Porter is supremely confident that he’s on the doorstep of immortality and enshrinement in Canastota, New York should he beat three-division titlist Terence Crawford on Nov. 20.

“I’m sure I’m on the brink of getting into the Hall of Fame,” said Porter. “For me, it’s not only win or go home. It’s win, or nothing else. My life right now it’s all about beating and dominating Crawford. My legacy will depend on beating Terence Crawford.”

Porter (31-3-1, 17 KOs) is a former welterweight champion who has beaten the likes of Danny Garcia, Yordenis Ugas, Adrien Broner, Andre Berto, Paul Malignaggi, Devon Alexander and Adrian Granados. His losses have come to the hands of Errol Spence Jr., Keith Thurman and Kell Brook in competitive fights that have resulted in close decisions.

A win against the WBO welterweight champion Crawford and one sport’s top pound-for-pound fighters would surely give Porter a stronger dossier to be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

“We can talk all about resumes, but when I look at his resume, nobody that has been in the ring with him, knows him as I know him,” said Porter. “The best of Terence Crawford will bring out the best of Shawn Porter. What I do know is November 20 is a big day for boxing and it will be a big day for Team Porter.

“He is a dominant fighter. Everyone he gets in the ring with, he dominates. I want to be the one fighter that he can’t dominate. Everything that is required to beat Terence, I got it. It’s time to take on this challenge.”

Crawford versus Porter will be an ESPN+ pay-per-view taking place at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
