Former heavyweight world champion Shannon Briggs is a big believer in Youtube star Logan Paul.

He warns that Paul has surprising power in his punches.

This coming Sunday, Paul will step in the ring with five division world champion Floyd Mayweather. Their exhibition fight will headline a Showtime Pay-Per-View event at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Briggs insists that Paul's boxing skills should not be dismissed and had predicted that the 26-year-old would trade punches with one of the sport's biggest stars.

Briggs helped prepare Paul for his pro debut in 2019, when he lost a controversial split decision to Youtube rival KSI.

In the bout with Mayweather, the 26-year-old Paul will hold a big edge in size. He will enter the ring with a 30-pound weight advantage.

While many observers are predicting a one-sided win for the far more experienced Mayweather, Briggs is not ruling out the possibility of an upset.

"Logan, he's a good guy. He's going to shock the world," Briggs told the Toe 2 Toe podcast.

"You know what, keep your eyes on this guy. From having trained him, and saying this, 'You're going to fight Floyd Mayweather one day.'

"He looked at me and I said: 'You're going to fight Floyd Mayweather one day.' For this to be happening, I'm telling you, I kid you not, I said it. It's happening, and I felt his power before. Listen to me, he can hit. I'm telling you, the boy can hit. Be careful. This might not be what you all think it is. The boy can hit.

"What I will say about this kid is that he can punch, for what it's worth. It is the great Floyd Mayweather, but this kid is bigger, and he's got some quick punches man. He's had more time to get better and learn. He's a kid, but he's a big kid."
