If there was a safe bet during the Rio Olympics, it was that USA Boxing's Claressa Shields would walk away with gold.

She didn't disappoint, defeating Netherlands' Nouchka Fontijn via unanimous decision during the last day of the Olympics.

"I had fun the last round and I landed a lot of big shots," Shields said. "I'm a two-time Olympic gold medalist. Oh my God, I feel like I'm dreaming."

Shields received the women's Val Barker trophy for her efforts, awarded to the top boxer in the tournament.

Only 21, Shields' options are endless. If she stays amateur, she has many years left of competing at a high level. If she turns professional, there are many who believe she could have a Ronda Rousey-like impact on women's boxing.

Great Britain's Joe Joyce fell short of a gold medal in the super heavyweight division, losing a split decision to Tony Yoka of France.

Two other gold medals were awarded on the final day of action, as Shakhobidin Zoirov claimed the flyweight gold and Fazlidden Gaibnazarov won in the light welterweight division.
