Argentine superstar Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez, who defends the World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight title against England's Martin Murray (25-0-1, 11KOs) on Saturday night in Argentina, says he is much better prepared than he was for last September's defense against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

In that fight, held in Las Vegas in September 2012, Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KOs) captured the WBC title from Chavez with a twelve round decision, but Martinez was tired by the final round and suffered a hard knockdown.

"The preparation [for Murray] is much better than it was for the fight with Chavez. There is something very important [and] that is experience. During my entire career I've been preparing for this moment [to defend a world title at home]. It is important that I had such a physical response [at my age], which is by far the best [training camp] of my career," Martinez said.

"I'm aware of Murray's strength. He is much younger, like most of my opponents today. He will not be the fastest or the most technical opponent, but he is a fighter with a lot of motivation and strength. That will remain in effect for a long time in the fight. Then my experience will factor in and that will win the fight for me."
