Uniondale, New York -

Former junior welterweight champion Sergey Lipinets (14-1, 10 KOs) made his debut in the welterweight division with a ten round majority decision over battle tested Erick Bone (20-6, 8 KOs). The scores were a head scratching 95-95, and 99-91 and 98-92 for Lipinets.

Bone came in on the back of a four fight winning streak, after losing four fights in a row to Eddie Ramirez, Miguel Vazquez, Chris Algieri and Shawn Porter.

Lipinets was in the ring back in March, when he lost his IBF 140-pound world title and suffered the first defeat of his pro career with a twelve round unanimous decision loss to Mikey Garcia.

The first round saw both men feel each other out. There was little action in the first two rounds of the bout.

Lipinets began to apply more pressure in the third round. He was pressing forward and looking to make Bone fight him. Bone was using his legs, and jumping in with a few shots and then moving away to avoid counters.

The strategy by Bone was making this tough for Lipinets, who was looking to do damage and applying pressure - but he was unable to connect with the big shots.

Lipinets began to land more punches in the eight round. Bone was still on the move, boxing and jabbing, but not landing a lot of his counters.

Lipinets picked up the pace in the tenth and final round, which saw him start to land some heavier punches. Bone was never seriously hurt and stayed on the move as Lipinets stalked him until the final bell sounded.
