With Denis Lebedev, Alexander Povetkin and Eduard Troyanovskiy nearing their final career chapters, promotional company World of Boxing is in need of a younger breed.

DmitryBivol has already put his name into title contention by taking the vacant WBA light heavyweight belt earlier this month in Monaco. His mate from the amateur days and former European and two-time Russian super heavyweight gold medalist, SergeyKuzmin, was gearing up for a party of his own - but it had a minor setback.

On Monday, Kuzmin (11-0-1, 8 KOs) faced his toughest career test so far in Amir Mansour (23-2-2, 16 KOs), a 45-year old tough guy and a former inmate at Schuylkill Federal Correctional Institution, who then turned into a veteran contender, who is making his last run at the heavyweight dream.

The fight ended in a three round technical draw, after an accidental clash of heads created bad cuts on both boxers. The ringside doctor would not allow the fight to continue and stopped the contest.

Kuzmin is not overly impressed with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (39-0, 38 KOs).

He believes Wilder ducked a fight with Mansour and several others, and only faces opponents who are overmatched.

"Well, I wish to say that Wilder is a hometown, domestic champion, and everyone in boxing knows that. I have known for quite some time that Wilder is only taking on voluntary challengers. As soon as there’s a mandatory challenger, either some controlled substances are being found, or something mysterious on the other side takes place. The mandatory challenger turns into a convict of sorts… and another optional contender is getting his [undeserved] chance as a substitute. Wilder is not fighting any strong competition," Kuzmin said.

According to Kuzmin's manager, Vadim Kornilov, Kuzmin may fight again in the United States in his next fight. It all depends on how long it will take for Kuzmin's cut to heal.

"I think there’s a good chance that Kuzmin will fight next on the same show with Dmitry Bivol. It can take place in the United States in February or in March of the next year. There are some opponents, some heavyweights, who also compete and fight on the HBO, whom we are quite interested in. One fight we are really interested in is Jarrell Miller as he just switched from Showtime to HBO," Kornilov said.
