Seniesa ‘Superbad’ Estrada saw her last bout end in record time but hardly expects another quick knockout in her next ring opportunity.

The unbeaten contender from East Los Angeles steps up in competition while moving down in weight for a challenge of longtime strawweight titlist Anabel Ortiz. The bout will take place March 20, live on DAZN from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, coming after her seven-second thrashing of unbeaten yet overmatched Miranda Atkins—the fastest ever knockout in female boxing history—in their July 2020 bout at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.

“It means so much to me. This is definitely the biggest fight of my career,” Estrada told DAZN’s Claudia Trejos during a virtual press conference. "A world title is something I’ve wanted for a while. It’s here at the perfect time. There’s no better time in my career to have a world title fight than right now.

“I feel like I’m just at my best right now and feel like I’m at the start of my prime. This is definitely a challenge. Anabel Ortiz is the most seasoned opponent I am facing and she’s the champion. It’s a fight I knew was always going to happen since my very first pro fight.”

As was the case in the win over Adkins, Estrada will once again fight in supporting capacity to a show headlined by Vergil Ortiz Jr. (16-0, 16KOs), who faces Maurice Hooker (27-1-3, 18KOs) in an all-Dallas welterweight battle.

A more comparable task for what to next expect came in her Nov. 2019 grudge match with Marlen Esparza, whom she outclassed in a battle of unbeaten flyweights. Esparza claimed an Olympic Bronze medal for the 2012 United States Olympic Boxing team which competed in London but was unable to keep pace with the supremely talented Estrada, who by her own admission was competing at least one division above her optimal weight.

Estrada weighed 107 pounds for her last bout with Adkins, while having weighed as light as 106¼ pounds in a Sept. 2017 win. The upcoming challenge versus Mexico City’s Ortiz (31-3, 4KOs)—who makes her U.S. debut—marks her first time at the true strawweight limit, while coming against a two-time and current strawweight titlist who has held the belt since 2013 and is attempting the 13th defense of her second title reign.

“It’s my first fight at 105 pounds but I’m excited,” insists Estrada. “105 pounds and 108 pounds are my natural weight classes where I should have always been fighting at from the beginning of my career. I’m really excited for that. I’m excited to be fighting at a weight class where I feel strongest at and feel my best at.

“I’m definitely not taking Anabel lightly. I know what she does [well]. I know her strengths, I know her weaknesses and am just preparing to go in there and give the best performance I’ve ever given also.”
