Another unification bout will grace the first quarter of the 2023 boxing schedule.

BoxingScene.com has confirmed that a deal has been reached between Seniesa Estrada and Tina Rupprecht for a WBA/WBC strawweight titie fight. The fight will land on an ESPN-branded show, with the date and location still being finalized as this goes to publish.

ESPN.com’s Michael Rothstein was the first to report the development. ESPN.com reported a targeted date of March 25 for the bout. Top Rank—whose representatives were not in a position to comment since the fight was not yet announced—currently has a hold at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. Former unified WBC/WBO junior welterweight titlist Jose Ramirez is rumored to headline that show, though he has yet to secure an opponent.

Estrada (23-0, 9KOs) vowed to clear a path towards undisputed championship status upon signing with Top Rank last summer after parting ways with Golden Boy Promotions. Her first fight under new promotional guidance came last November 12, when the two-division and reigning WBA strawweight titlist from East Los Angeles defended her crown in a ten-round victory over Jazmin Gala Villarino on an ESPN+ show from The Palms in Las Vegas.

The bout marked the second title defense for Estrada. It also ended an eleven-month ring absence after a bitter split with Golden Boy, who co-promotes IBF/WBO strawweight titlist Yokasta Valle (27-2, 9KOs) along with MarvNation.

Estrada and Valle have enjoyed plenty of back-and-forth through social media—and the actual media—are no closer to crossing paths in the ring.

The next best step comes for Estrada, who faces the last opponent to beat her top divisional rival.

Rupprecht (12-0-1, 3KOs) outpointed Valle over ten rounds in a June 2018 interim WBC strawweight title fight. The unbeaten boxer from Augsburg, Germany was upgraded to full titlist soon thereafter, having made five successful defenses. The most recent came in a December 10 win over Rocio Gaspar in Heilbronn.

The upcoming clash with Estrada will mark the U.S. debut for the 30-year-old Rupprecht, whose lone other career bout outside of Germany came in her fourth pro fight when she fought and won in Tambov, Russia.

Estrada-Rupprecht continues the trend of top-level fights following a blockbuster year for women in boxing.

The addition of this bout marks at least four unification bouts due to take place in the next 90 days: Kim Clavel and Jessica Nery meet in a WBC/WBA junior flyweight championship clash on January 13 in Laval Canada; and DAZN offers a February 4 show from Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater featuring two undisputed championships—Amanda Serrano-Erika Cruz (featherweight) and Alycia Baumgardner-Elhem Mekhaled (junior lightweight).
