Saul Sanchez’s demeanor at the scale was a clear indication that he is back where he belongs.

The 23-year-old prospect from Pacoima, California returns to the bantamweight division for his first fight of 2021. It comes in a scheduled 10-round regional title fight versus Frank Gonzalez, with both boxers making weight for Friday’s main event live on Telemundo from Bryan Glazer Family JCC Auditorium in Tampa.

Sanchez checked in at 118?pounds as he fights in his third different weight division in as many fights. Gonzalez (8-1, 4KOs)—a second-generation boxer from Miami—also weighed in right at the 118-pound divisional limit.

The bout marks Sanchez’s appearance on the Boxeo Telemundo circuit, though his previous appearance didn’t last very long. Sanchez blasted out longtime series favorite Daniel Lozano inside of one round last October in front of a crowdless Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, roughly two hours from Friday’s venue where a socially distanced sold-out crowd is expected.

Both Telemundo appearances represent Sanchez’s lone career fights outside of his home state of California.

Gonzalez steps well up in class for his televised debut. The 24-year-old enters riding a five-fight win streak, though having not fought since a six-round decision win last February prior to the start of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Below are the weights for the rest of the card, with select pre-recorded bouts to air on the telecast.
