Welterweight Saul Bustos is just waiting on the opportunity for a top promoter to sign him. In the meantime, he stays busy, hoping to notch another win and develop as a legit prospect.

Bustos will face Martin Angel Martinez tonight at the Derby Room in Pomona, California. The eight-round bout will be part of the MarvNation Promotions card that will be streamed live on their YouTube page (9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT).

The 28-year-old Bustos (14-0-1, 8 knockouts), who resides in Los Angeles, stopped journeyman Alvaro Ortiz Diaz in the opening round of his last bout on July 31. The knockout win took place almost 11 months after Bustos notched his best win to date as a pro, a decision win over Luis Lopez in a clash of unbeaten fighters.

Since his pro debut in June 2014, Bustos has mostly fought in Southern California, the Phoenix area and Tijuana, Mexico. He is now trained by Freddie Roach and has sparred fighters who fight at 140 and 147 pounds. He is at the physical peak of his career and hopes to land a promotional deal with one of the major promoters in the sport.

Martinez (21-19-1, 14 KOs), who resides in Empalme, Mexico, has stopped his last two opponents, both of which occurred last year, after losing his previous four, including losses to Omar Juarez and Taras Shelestyuk.

In the main event, 18-year-old Ashton Sylve will square off against Aldimar Silva of Sao Paolo, Brazil in a six-round featherweight bout.

Sylve (5-0, 5 KOs), who resides in the Los Angeles suburb of Long Beach, will be making his United States debut after fighting all his bouts in Tijuana. In his last bout on September 25, Sylve knocked out journeyman Cristian Vizcarra in round 2.

Silva has not fought since stopping Lucas De Oliveira da Silva in September 2019. Silva (22-18, 14 KOs) had lost his previous five bouts.

Super middleweight Lawrence King (10-1, 9 KOs) of nearby San Bernardino will face Argentina’s Abel Nicolas Adriel (25-22-3, 5 KOs) in a six-round bout.

Welterweight Mylik Roashun Birdsong (12-0-1, 9 KOs) of Los Angeles will square off against Mexico’s Daniel Perales (12-21-2, 6 KOs) in a six-round bout.

Middleweight Raul Salomon (8-1, 8 KOs) of Long Beach will attempt to bounce back from suffering his first loss as a pro in his last bout as he faces Colorado Springs’ Jeremy Ramos (11-11, 4 KOs) in a six-round bout.

Five more fights, all of which are scheduled for four rounds, will round out the card.
