Promoter Kalle Sauerland, of Sauerland Event, stated in a recent interview that his company is still moving forward with their plan to stage a cruiserweight version of the Super Six tournament. According to the German promoter, the details are coming closer to a finalization, however, some very important issues have to be established, including the exact participants.

"Talks are going in the right direction. We estimate that the first phase of the tournament will begin in the second half of 2011. As far as the competitors, it certainly will involve the four boxers who hold the belts of the WBA, IBF, WBC and WBO, and two contenders who represent the appropriate level but do not have any of these titles that I mentioned," Sauerland said.

The names mentioned for the tournament include WBO champion Marco Huck, WBC champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk, the winner of Saturday's bout between Yoan Pablo Hernandez and Steve Herelius, IBF champion Steve Cunningham, Denis Lebedev and WBA champion Guillermo Jones. Some of these boxers have upcoming title defenses. They need to win in order to ensure their involvement in the tournament.
