According to sources in Puerto Rico, former two-time champion Eric Morel (46-3, 23 KO's) will have another chance to win a world title when he takes on Mexico's Leo Santa Cruz (20-0-1, 11 KOs) for the IBF bantamweight championship on September 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight will be televised by Showtime.

The event will be headlined by the Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (40-0-1, 29 KOs), holder of the WBC championship at 154 pounds, as he takes on Josesito Lopez (30-4, 18 KO's), the WBC's silver king at welterweight.

Santa Cruz won the vacant title in June by beating Vusi Malinga via unanimous decision while Morel fought for the WBC's super bantamweight belt and lost a twelve round decision to Abner Mares in April.
