Colorado’s Steve Valdez came to life in New Mexico’s Santa Ana Star Casino last night with his ring knowledge and ability to show the youngster Jeremy De Los Santos what this business is all about.

Santos started off in the first round strong, but after the second it was all Valdez to win by KO in the final round. The old but rugged Valdez was very slow but on this night had enough to beat the youngster.

Then Durango’s Elco “The Animal” Garcia took Joaquin Zamora to school as he blasted at Zamora’s eye and nose to stop Zamora in the sixth round.

Albuquerque’s Monica Lovato was very strong in winning a very tough fight over Valeria Flores. Lovato just couldn’t miss with her left hand from all angles.

David “El Finito” Martinez was in a war with veteran Raul Contreras of Juarez, Mx. Martinez winning the first three rounds easy changes his style of fighting Contreras from the fourth round on. At that point the fight became a war and ended up a very close fight with Martinez winning by one round to get the decision.

The main event was Lil Ray Sanchez vs. Troy Wilson of Atlanta, Ga. Sanchez went 10 rounds to get the decision. Sanchez won every round and knocked Wilson on his can in the 10th but Wilson with the help of Sanchez got up and finished the round. By saying with the help of Sanchez I mean that the referee didn’t start the count right away because he had to make Sanchez go to a neutral corner before he started the count, that gave Wilson enough time to recoup.
