Sam Eggington is set for a quick return.

The WBC International welterweight champion scored a stoppage victory over former world champion Paulie Malignaggi on March 4, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Eggington –– who with the victory against ‘The Magic Man’ at the O2 Arena in London retained his belt and moved to 20-3 with 12 early –– announced via social media on Sunday that he would be back in action on May 13.

His next outing will come on the undercard of Kal Yafai’s WBA super-flyweight world title first defence against an opponent to be named at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.

That venue was the scene of ‘Savage’ Sam’s second-last victory against Frankie Gavin, an eighth-round ending, and he teased that it would be a big comeback to the Midlands.

“[It] looks like I’ll have my own huge fight to deal with [on the card],” he tweeted, before saying that more details will be made public soon.

Also on the card, Boxing Scene understands that Gamal Yafai, Kal’s younger brother who scored a points victory over six rounds in Germany on Saturday (March 11), will appear and there are a number of other local showdowns in the pipeline.

In other news, Frankie Gavin –– who is mentioned above as a man who Eggington beat last October –– has also announced his return for the bill.

Further details, including ticket information and other undercard fights for the card, will be revealed in due course.
