Ringside report by David Selwyn

Undefeated Junior Welterweight prospect Dimitry Salita scored a unanimous 8 round decision win over Ruben Galavan, 20-6-2(9 Kos). All three judges scored the bout the same at 80-72. Billed as "Home Cooking", the Lou Dibella promotion was the first Salita fight promoted by Dibella. Salita was previously promoted by Bob Arum.

Galavan threw very few punches. He was constantly taunting Salita to bring it on. Salita scored on numerous combinations, but never seemed to hurt Galavan.

At the post fight press conference, Lou Dibella outlined his plans for Salita. Dibella has been given a date in January by Showtime to promote a Shobox event. He plans a Co-feature of Salita and his other undefeated Jr. Welterweight fighter, Paul Malignaggi. He hopes to secure "The Theater", a 5,000 venue at Madison Square Garden.

There were five other fights on the "Home Cooking" card. The most impressive fighter on the undercard was welterweight Ray Biggs who was making his Pro debut. Biggs has a very impressive amateur record. In 2000, he beat Salita in the New York Golden Gloves. Biggs scored an easy 2nd round TKO over Baytar Zakon(0-1). In other fights, Heavyweight Jose Gomez(1-2-) scored a first Round knockout over Irishman John Timlins, making his Pro debut. Timlin's older brother Heavyweight Declarn Timlin, improved to a 3-0 in a 4 round decision over James Steele(0-2).

In other action, Lightheavyweight Jason Quick 4-0(3 Kos) won a unanimous decision over James Steele 0-2. Terrace Thomas 1-1-1 and Luis Lopes 1-6-1 fought to a majority draw in a 6 round Lightweight fight.

The card was held at the Russian Nightclub, the Atlantic Oceana. The attendance swelled to the 1,200 capacity with many patrons standing. Dibella commented that the venue was too small for Salita to headline, and said "Salita will be fighting at larger venues as he steps up to become a 10 round fighter who is going to face stiffer competition at a gradual pace".
