The upcoming 130 lb. title tilt between Orlando Salido and Roman Martinez now has a leading chief support. Event handlers announced a 10-round lightweight clash between previous title challengers Jose 'Chelo' Gonzalez and Sharif Bogere.

Both bouts will appear on an independent Pay-Per-View telecast, airing live from Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The rest of the card will be announced in the coming weeks.

"We added this good fight between Chelo Gonzalez and Sharif Bogere for a WBO regional title on this show. This is a good match between two ranked boxers looking to for a world opportunity," said Peter Rivera, vice president of Puerto Rico Best Boxing Promotions, who will handle the show locally in association with Zanfer Promotions, Salido's promoter. "We already have a great fight on Salido vs Rocky and we are working to have other good fights on the undercard. Soon we will announce everything for April 11."

Gonzalez (23-1, 18KOs) returned from a 19-month hiatus with a win over Antonio Joao Bento last December.

The bout was his first since offering the performance of his career for nine rounds before quitting on his stool in his May '13 challenge of then-lightweight titlist Ricky Burns in Glasgow, Scotland. The combination of exhaustion from an extremely high workrate and a wrist injury suffered to the point of no longer being able to throw a punch with maximum impact prompted Gonzalez to not come out for the start of the 10th round of the tile fight.

Despite the adversity with which he was met, Gonzalez' critics weren't as kind in the post-fight assessment. The loss was a bitter pill to swallow and subject to wide criticism, though one the Puerto Rican slugger hopes to leave in the rearview mirror.

Bogere (26-1, 18KOs) comes in riding a three-fight win streak following his disheartening split decision loss to Richar Abril in their March '13 lightweight title fight. To this day, Bogere believes he was robbed of the title, though the fight was so lacking in action that most fans chose to forget about the night rather than dispute the final scores.

The bout will mark the first career appearance in Puerto Rico for Bogere, a native of Uganda who now and lives and trains in Las Vegas.

Salido (42-12-2, 29KOs) makes the first defense of the 130 lb. title he earned in off-the-canvas 11th round knockout of Terdsak Jaendang in Tijuana, Mexico. There were a total of seven knockdowns in the vacant title fight, landing high among year-end honors in the 2014 Fight of the Year race. Salido was dropped three times, but rallied back to floor the visiting Thai veteran four times before forcing the stoppage.

The title win marked Salido's fourth title reign, having enjoyed three separate stays as a featherweight titlist.

Martinez (28-2-2, 17KOs) is coming off of a knockout win last December, on the same show that saw Gonzalez' aforementioned ring return. The fight was the first for Martinez since losing his 130 lb. belt - the very same title at stake in this contest - in an 8th round knockout loss to Mikey Garcia in Nov. '13.
