TOKYO - Japan's London Olympic gold medalist Ryota Murata will take on WBA "regular" middleweight champion Hassan N'Dam of France in Tokyo in the fall in a rematch of their controversial title fight from earlier this year, Murata's gym said Thursday.

The rematch was ordered by WBA President Gilberto Jesus Mendoza after their May 20 fight ended with N'Dam surprisingly winning on a split decision. It will take place at Ryogoku Kokugikan on Oct. 22

"I want to put on a better performance (than last time), show a stronger me, be better than N'Dam and show what I can do in the future," Murata told a press conference.

Two judges, Gustavo Padilla of Panama and Hubert Earle of Canada, were suspended for six months over their scoring of the May fight.

The Japan Boxing Commission had sent a written document to the WBA demanding the match be reviewed.

Murata (12-1, 9 KOs), who suffered his first defeat in the contest, dropped N'Dam (36-2, 21 KOs) in the fight and appeared to be well on his way to a title win - but two of the judges shocked everyone when they handed down scores of 116-111 and 115-112 for N'Dam, while third had 117-110 for Murata.

The WBA's "super champion" at the weight is Gennady Golovkin, who is scheduled to collide with Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on September 16th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
