Back in January of 2011, Mauricio Herrera (22-5, 7KOs) handed Ruslan Provodnikov (25-4, 18KOs) his first professional loss in what was a close and competitive affair in Las Vegas. Fast forward to the upcoming new year and we could be seeing this pairing again in the spring.

"We are in discussions with Golden Boy, I spoke with Eric Gomez (V.P. of GBP) about a fight with Herrera and we feel good about it,"said Artie Pelullo the head of Banner Promotions, which handles Provodnikov. Pelullo believes that HBO has interest in this rematch.

"We think we're going to do it in April at either the StubHub Center or the Forum (in the Los Angeles area)," stated the veteran promoter.

Herrera last fought on July 11th at the L.A. Sports Arena where he defeated Hank Lundy in a five round technical decision. On November 7th Provodnikov stopped Jesus Rodriguez in four rounds in Monaco. Herrera-Provodnikov 2 would be a pivotal junior welterweight match-up.

"It's going to be another all-action fight,"promised Pelullo.
