Universum heavyweight Ruslan Chagaev (27-2-1, 17KOs) is likely going to get back in the ring this year. The Uzbek said, after his defeat against Alexander Povetkin, that he wants to fight once more this year.

"For me it is regardless of whether boxing eight or ten rounds. All I want is to fight. I need the practice. Next year, I want to rise in the official rankings to get a new world championship bout. I absolutely want to fight this year," said Chagaev.

His Promoter will host an another event this year, not at the Training and Event location

DIMA Sport-Center, but rather outside of Hamburg. Universum CEO Waldemar Kluch will accomodate Chagaev's interest and plans a bout for him.

"We would like to give Ruslan the opportunity to fight again and warmly recommend himself for another world championship bout. We are definitely making plans with Ruslan. He has the potential to attack the top of the world again. We are really happy to have a contract with such an experienced boxer," said Kluch.

The 32-year-old Chagaev was the underdog in the bout against Povetkin and showed an impressive performance. Povetkin was hurt in the sixth round, but Chagaev was not able to finish him off. At the end in this exciting bout, Ruslan Chagaev lost a unanimous point decision with scores of 112-116, 113-117, 113-117.
