Jakarta, Indonesia - At the TVRI Studio, Roy ‘The Sniper’ Mukhlis [rated WBO # 7, WBA # 11 and WBC # 23] successful acquired the WBC international belt by defeating Simson Butar-Butar via unimous decision. Mukhlis, 22 years old, and currently the PABA title holder, frustrated Butar-Butar, who is also the IBO Asia Pacific Champ, for most of the twelve round fight.

In the last round Mukhlis almost stopped Butar-Butar, who clinched to until the bell to save himself. Mukhlis' record increases to 21-2-2 (16 KOs) while Simson Butar-Butar falls to 19-9-1 (14 KOs). The scores were 117-111, 118-110 and 116-112 all for Mukhlis. Promoter Guritno promised to schedule his first defense in March or April.

On the undercard, Indonesian lightweight champ, Billy Sumba, defeated Yacob Jack by a majority points decision over six rounds. Judges scoring the fight had cards of 57-57, 58-55 and 59-56.

The fights were promoted by Ir. RM Suryo Goeritno from Jakarta. Supervisor was Mr. Chandru G. Lalwani, while the Indonesian Boxing Association served as the local commission.
