Former champion and known veteran Rosendo Alvarez was shaking his head with the recent opponent who Román "Chocolatito" Gonzalez stopped on Saturday night at the Holiday Inn in Managua. "Chocolatito" (33-0, 28 KOs), the WBA's junior flyweight champion, faced overmatched unbeaten prospect Stiven Monterrosa (9-1-2, 8 KOs). After two knockdowns in the first two rounds, the referee waved off the contest in the third.

Alvarez noted that the Nicaraguan Professional Boxing Commission should have stopped the fight from taking place.

"I have nothing against Chocolatito. He can fight a dead man if he wants, but these are the kind of fights happening in Nicaragua. The Commission should not approve these uneven fights, because they are a crime," said Rosendo. "That was a one round fight. Chocolatito is a super champion, a great fighter, but that Colombian boy didn't have the quality or the experience to deal with him."
