WBA “super” champion Hiroto Kyoguchi is looking to kick off 2021 in style. The light flyweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA) will make his United States debut against Axel Vega on the undercard of super flyweight unification clash between Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez and Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada at the American Airlines Arena, in Dallas, on March 13.

Kyoguchi, 27-years-old, enjoys great popularity in Japan and is one of the current great champions of the Land of the Rising Sun. He recently signed a promotional contract with Matchroom Boxing and will make his third defense of the black and gold belt.

Vega, the WBA Fedecentro champion, is just 20-years-old and will be the second Mexican fighter to face Kyoguchi in his career. Vega has won four of his last five fights and the most recent outing took place in August 2020.

The Japanese boxer is undefeated in 14 fights, with 9 knockouts. While Vega has a record of 14 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw and 8 knockouts.

One man who will be keeping a close eye on the fight is light flyweight contender Ronald "El Criollo" Chacon (24-1-1, 16 KOs), who has been inspired by Venezuelan countryman Roger Gutierrez's recent victory.

"I'm ready to be the next champion of Venezuela, Roger Gutierrez has made our country proud and I want to give some more joy to our great people during these difficult times," Chacon said.

"I'm WBA #8 and IBF #10 and ready for Hiroto Kyoguchi, I'll be watching his next defense. I'm training like a man possessed and I thank my team Orangel Ramos (Fundacion Talento Activo) and Tony Tolj (Dragon Fire Boxing), I know they can make this fight happen. Just give me the chance and Venezuela will rise again."
