The Forum, Los Angeles, California - Lightweight Romero Duno won a workmanlike eight round unanimous decision over Juan Sanchez (29-14, 14 KOs). Duno, who is best known for knocking out Christian 'Chimpa' Gonzalez earlier this year, landed the more-telling blows throughout the fight over Sanchez. All three judges scored the bout 78-74 in favor of Duno, who improves to 15-1, 13 KOs.

"I'm satisfied with my performance. Sanchez was a tough competitor, but I respect him. I've learned a lot from this fight and am going to take the lessons I've learned onto the next (fight)," Duno said.

In the fight of the night thus far, junior featherweight Azat Hovhannisyan (13-2, 10 KOs) won a hard-fought 10 round unanimous decision over Sergio Rojas. Both fighters were on the attack from the opening bell, exchanging combinations that excited the arriving crowd at The Forum.

"I fought in the ring with basically one hand as I fractured my right hand," said Hovhannisyan after the fight. "The swelling reappeared during the fight. Frias was a tough opponent, but we put in the work to get the win.”

Frias (19-8-2, 10 KOs) had his moments, but Hovhannisyan, dealing with a nasty cut over his left eye, outboxed and outlanded Frias during the final half of the fight. Scores were 100-90, 100-90, and 98-92 in favor of Hovhannisyan.

Junior lightweight contender Abraham Lopez (23-1-1, 15 KOs) rebounded from his loss to Jesus Rojas on May 6 to stop Isao Carranza after the fourth round. Carranza (15-10-1, 9 KOs) cited an injury that would not allow him to continue.

In the opening bout of the Golden Boy Promotions card, junior featherweight Rafael Gramajo (9-1-1, 2 KOs) defeated Pedro Melo by unanimous decision over six rounds. Scores were 58-56, 58-56, and 59-55 for Gramajo.
